I have a 99 explorer 4 x 4 256,000 miles on it. lately I have gotten a growling noise in the front end. is not noticeable until about 45 to 50 mph. when you swerve hard to the right, the noise goes away. when you are straight or turning left, the noise is there. thought for sure it was the RF hub. I replaced that and the noise remained. tore it back down, replaced the CV shaft. still same noise. the hub and CV shaft on the LF have less than 20,000 on them too. what in the world is left to try ? a bearing in the differential? a rear bearing that is fooling me ? appreciate your help
