hard start and rough idle

recently my 91 ex is having trouble getting started in the morning. It cranks, then stops cranking almost as if the battery is drained and the starts to crank until it finally starts. The battery is only 3 months old. Also, if I shut the truck off and try to restart after a few minutes, it runs really rough almost ready to stall. I am thinking it is the fpr. Anybody have any suggestions???

how does it run once started? If it doesn't either run really rich or doesn't starve for fuel, it's not the FPR. However, could be the fuel pump, do you hear it pressurize the system when you turn the key to "on"?
