Hard start in cold, doors auto lock?

2002 ford sport trac. Ongoing changing issues. Currently poor gas mileage about 12 in the city and 17 highway. Rough start in cold temperatures typically below 40 degrees. Once starts its fine but takes usually 2 attempts to start before it turns over. Also the doors auto lock when it has difficulty in starting? Is there any chance the temperature sensor may be the culprit in this issue?

not sure, but you may have a weak battery (on it's way out) which is contributing to some electrical issues.
