My 03 explorer 4.0 sohc has been having warm start issues for more than a year. Lately it's happening more often. It's never an issue on first start when cold. I've been reading posts here and it seems a possible cause is the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator. Each of those parts is over $200 . Damn, $200 for a friggen pressure regulator. Give me a break ford! To confirm this problem I'm going to use a scanner and see if any codes come up. I'll also put a pressure gauge on the rail to monitor when it doesn't start. This is an intermittent issue but has been going on for too long. If it turns out the check valve on the fuel pump in the tank is leaking, can a check valve be installed inline upstream? If so where, exactly. Lately seems all I do is go from one problem to the next on this motor.
Thanks,
John
