Hello,

This is my first post. I tried posting this question in another section, but it wouldn't allow me to post. I guess I will post the question here. I am considering an purchasing an 06 XLT (V6). I just took it for a test drive and it ran great; however, when I first started it, it had a rattle sound. Not the sound of a rod knock, but more like you sometimes hear when you start a car cold. I started it a few more times and it sounded fine. My question is, should I be concerned about this? Or is the common for a cold start?

The car has about 35,000 miles. The carfax report indicats that it was a lease vehicle. Interestingly, a review of the mileage shows that it was sitting for 8 months, and not being driven.

The car looks good, runs good, and is priced right. My only concern is the cold start rattle that I heard. If anyone has any thoughts or comments, please pass them along.

Thank you very much.

Welcome to this forum! It could be a timing chain or possibly just the sound of cold fuel injectors ticking until they warm up. Most Fords do this. I've heard cars with under 12K miles ticking from the injectors.

Welcome to the site!

I bet is sat for 8 months due to the lease mileage.
