- 2006 Ford Explorer
Hello Everyone, new to the forum, looking for some help and hoping i may be able to give back to the forum by contributing what i can.
Full disclosure; i have a 2006 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0 v6 stock. i was replacing the thermostat housing as most of you have done already, it had been leaking for a while and i'm guessing my bolts rusted to the intake or Ford used thread lock on them because all 3 of them ended up breaking, 2 of them i was able to get out with knock'r loose and visegrips, the 3rd broken again using the same technique but there was no longer enough to grab on too. so as my last resort i welded a nut and washer to what was left of the bolt. i did disconnect the negative battery cable before welding, bolt came out, put new housing on, reconnected the battery. when i tried to start it the alarm went off, pushing lock then unlock on the FOB took care of this. tried again still went off.
upon further research on this forum i tried the 3 turn method and it stopped the alarm from going off but would turn over for less than a second then what i belive is the relay clicking, could be wrong though, then i tried the 8 turn method. no the alarm goes off when i try to start.
Does the PCM no longer recognize my key? what else could be causing this? hopefully the welder didn't do any damage.
Thanks in advance!
