I was thinking about running Headers on my 93 Navajo, which is basically the 93 Explorer. Anyone have any suggestions on which headers are reccommended and any problems you had run across during installing them?

Is therealso a way to hook up to the stock exhaust or will that have to come off?? Also if you have about how much it cost??

Thanks:hammer:

Make sure you know which style exhaust you have.
In '93 some 4.0Ls have EGR and some don't. I used
Borla headers. They are expensive but there is
nothin better. My Explorer is a very early '93
and did not have an EGR sensor.

If I had to do it again I might not do it. The Headers are nice and all but... They were one of the hardest things I ever installed on my Navajo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but headers are not necessarily the next step in mods to your Explorer, unless you are planning something else like a S/C.
What other mods do you have? What other mods are you planning?
Heard lots of good reviews of the JBA headers. I remember reading troll or his brother talk about doing a mod to his explorer, only to have to spend money to re-do it later with a better part. Take that into consideration as well.........

Right now i am gonna put on the headers. I am not sure how many things i can do to help get better performance at a moderate price.

I was going to use Pacesetter headers due to them being able to hookup to existing O2 sensor hookups.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated along with vendors. I have replaced my air filter with a K&R filter kit which help me a little.

I also want to pick up a superchip for the computer. Not sure how many mfr's there are for one???

Pacesetters are some of the worst products ever made. I've never heard a good opinion of them.

Besides the air filter, what other mods have you done? If that's all, headers will NOT help you out. I suggest catback exhaust, the chip, TB, and MAS.

My Borla Headers worked with my O2 sensor no problem.

I still would not waste Money on Headers. I wish I never did.

Yeh the only thing I have done is the K&R filter kit. As far as Pacesetter, they have just moved production out of Mexico and into the U.S. to Phoenix. So maybe some standards will increase. The headers will cost like $221 delivered, so i figured the price was the cheapest i could find. How much were the borla??

Is TB = timing belt? Also any reccomendations on the mfr. for the MAS???

I currently have a thrush glasspack, after splashing through a puddle on a sunday afternoon that was like 2 feet deep and ripped the muffler from the pipe and twisted it to the rear of the vehicle. I put that on as a quick fix so i could scurry off to work monday morning.

TB is throttle body

Here is my piece of advice.
After you put the headders in, drive your truck for about 5 days. Climb back under there and re-tighten the collector bolts. Sometimes they will loosen up on you, and you will blow the collector gaskets. Loc-tite helps alot too.
