Crappy crap crap!

Okey dokey - 96 XLT 4WD - driver side bulb went out. Got replacement bulbs (standard Sylvanias though that doesn't matter. Yet.)

Try to remove the cylindrical wiring cap thingy and it doesn't budge. Of course, I checked here first and read that one person said the other side came off easier. I tried the other side. Same thing - not coming off.

My manual says "remove" the damned thing but doesn't indicate that it should be anything other than a basic tug manuever. No turning, no pushing down and turning. Nope. Nothing. I can get it to move a hair in either direction but not in the out - toward the engine - direction.

So, folks...aside from offering someone a pack of cigarettes (as worked in another thread) to get the darned things off, any ideas?! The good news? I didn't have to remove the battery to find out I couldn't get it off. Hmph.

You were all a great help in the brake work so I am hoping you guys can come through on this. Thanks!

Try pushing the cap(?) forward while turning it. It should turn, Maybe it got stuck. I think a little squirt of WD40 will help. Not too much! Wipe it dry after in case.

Oh yes! I remembered using a robogrip last time.

Sounds like you need a MAN to fix it (heh heh heh)

JK... good thing your not closer to me, i'de prob get a whack in the back of the head... lol

Good Luck!!

i pushed the cap away from the engine compartment and twisted. then after twisting you should be able to pull it off. hope that helps

Headlamp Bulb Change - Check!

Whoo hoo! Well, thanks folks. I was able to get the darned things changed. Seems that the little cover thing also comes off in a counter-clockwise twist. A tiny dab of oil helped, I think. (Had this handy dandy oiling tool with a tiny tip on it - used it for my knife collection...<grin>)

I gotta tell you - that driver-side bulb is a pain in the...trying to get the thing back in without touching the bulb is quite a feat. I think I know, now, how a surgeon feels. <grin>

Thanks again for the help!
