I have a question I need some help with. I have a 97 XLT and the passenger side parking light in the headlamp unit is blown out. It's the light in the upper left corner. I lifted up the flap under the hood where you access the headlights. I can see the wire running to the parking lights, but it seems impossible to reach the parking lights without removing anything under the hood. Does anyone have any suggestions how to change this light bulb. Or is this something I should not attempt and just take it to the dealer. Thanks for the input.

If its anything like my 92 you just open the hood and take out the two screws above the headlight and just pull the whole unit out:D

Give aldive a p.m. he probally knows for sure:D

I just had to do this this weekend with the same bulb.
Yu have to lift the flap and remove 2 screws that hold the upper lamp housing in place. This will allow you to remove the upper lamp housing (pull straight out, it took a little force at first). The upper lamp housing only contains the parking and side marker lamps, the actual headlight is in a seperate housing and it wont be disturbed by doing this. The upper housing is L-shaped and is not connected to the headlamp assy although it looks a little decieving. Once you have the L-shaped assy out the bulbs and sockets are right there.
I hope I didn't make it sound to confusing because it is a really easy job once you realize how it comes apart.
Any more questions let me know.

DaleG-Thanks for the advice. I'll try out your solution and let you know how it goes.

DaleG- Everything you said was true. Thanks for the help. It turns out that the bulb was blown, there was just a loose connection. You probably saved me alot of money by not going to the dealer. Thanks a bunch.

Glad to help.
