I'm fairly new to this site, and to my Explorer. I have found that a run was made to Tuttle Creek near Manhattan Kansas. I missed that run. I would love to go if there is another trip since it is close to me. I'm not too crazy about freezing weather and snow, so maybe this could get the ball rolling for a near-spring time run. More people would go instead of the four that went last time I think. :) I would easily consider myself a novice, so it would really be fun for me. And if it's around spring time I would have my lift and bigger tires on by then. If there is going to be a run sometime, you can count me in. Anyways, just an idea.

I was on the run last time, it was a blast, thanks to Dogman (mike) and Paul sabin. First time i ever got in mud up to my doors... last time too, heh heh. I don't remember what time of year we went, but it was fairly cold in colroado when we left and I think it'd snowed the day before... so sometime between july and july... LOL j/k.

Don't follow Matt!

Thirty headlights, and he still can't see which trail to take.....

I would be interested in a run here since I am very close. If it is a time I can get off work then I would go since it is one of the few trips i could afford to take.

Raceit,

I live close to Tuttle so if you want to go sometime let me know. I will warn you though I dont do anything really crazy. My Explorer is bone stock except for the K&N and without the 4L I am kinda limited. With that in mind let me know.

Brian,
Sounds great. I have never even been on an outting like what is done here. My friend has a '00 Mazda 4x4 that I have been out with, but that is just us two. I would love to get as many people to go as possible to go.

When were you thinking of going? if we can get a group together we could try for a weekend trip.

As Matts spotter for that weekend I have to admit this was my fault. After all he was off doing some other obstical I talked to a Jeep dude and he told me about this area. Well when Matt got back I dared him to do it and of course he did! He got stuck I took the pictures and we were even from then on. :) It was pretty dang funny and fun to watch. I can't wait to go out there again.

True... true... although if you'd dared me and then didn't take pictures, THEN I would've been really pissed. The pictures made it all worth while :).

So where r these pictures?

see...that's why you need all those Piaa's. One flick of the switch and all the mud would of turned into hard clay. You never thought there would be a useful reason to have all those lights now did you

ha ha well at the time my lights on the roof were turned upward... but the ones in front were real troopers... they were submerged in mud for a while... got them out, washed them off, flick em on and they work just as well as before :).

Raceit-

For what its worth, the previous Heartland Run was over President's Day weekend last February (pretty mild winter, wasn't it??). I've contacted Mike (DOGMAN) via e-mail to let him know about this thread (he hasn't been on the site lately), but he hasn't responded. He lives outside of K.C. and we ventured out there two or three times last year.

I'd love to get back out there, but I am now living in North Carolina, making it a bit too far to travel for just a weekend of four wheeling.

Best of luck,

Paul

It would be about an hour from Topeka. The trails are just north of Manhattan. For me it would be about two hours since I live in KC. But this weekend would be no good for me anyways, got plans. I could sure let you know Sportiowa if an actual run will solidify, or nevermind if you keep an eye on the postings. :)
