:roll:I have a 2001 explorer limited edition that has a heat issue. It will get hot and then cold but for the most part it stays cold. I topped off the coolant and changed the thermostat. I dont get it, Does anybody know whats going on? Any help would be much appreciated. Help!!!!!!!!!! Its freezing out there.

Hm...could possibly be a bad water pump

Im sorry i should have been more specific the motor isnt running hot at all. The heat inside is acting strange.

Hm if the engines not getting up to temp, you could have possibly gotten a bad thermostat, stuck open, or not installed right...

Welcome to this forum! I've moved your thread into the A/C & heater section. It's possible that the thermostat might be installed upside down.

Ive heard that too, whats the difference if its upside down or not? I think when I put the new one in my Taurus I put it in wrong because my engine still wouldnt come up to temp or get heat or anything, but when I did it on my expo, I put it in the exact same way I took the old one out, and it fixed the problem

Oh, I knew that, thought you meant like having it in the right way, but turned or something, if that makes sense?

Heres a little paint sketch of what I mean (The springs are both in the same direction, but theyre just turned differently)
