I'm wondering how difficult it might be to upgrade the outside mirrors on my 06 Eddie Bauer to heated ones. Now that the weather is changing I'm noticing how hard it is to back out of my driveway in the morning with fogged/iced up windows.
I did a quick search in Google about it, but most of the relevant posts brought me right back here to this site, unfortunately the posts were old, and were for 2nd and 3rd Gen rides.
I've read that the wiring is there, and that they are activated by the rear window defogger circuit, but I'm not sure what else I may need (fuses). Wiring diagrams are not my strong point, so I'm hoping someone is willing to enlighten a slightly electrically challenged lab tech.
Thanks in advance.
Alan

So there's no additional equipment required? I saw a couple on Rockauto (albiet, more expensive) but wasn't sure I could just bolt them up? I read posts regarding needing a fuse or two in the power distribution box.

mine has puddle lights and they both went on with no problems . these are black textured style . they are great there are others with chrome cap

So the puddle lights and the heat work no problem?

That sounds great. Mine are power with puddle lights but no heat, the heat would really be nice right now. Even though mine are body color I'd gladly give that up for being able to see backing out of my driveway in the morning.

I'm not sure the mirror will come apart without getting destroyed though, otherwise that would work.

doorman sells replacement glass so they have to come apart.... my left mirror has some cracks on the inside top... and just a replacement glass is not worth the price,.... if I had the pinout I would totally wire this up and post a how too

After some additional checking it looks like the heated mirror glass only is available from multiple sources. Now, is there a harness or plug that the glass will plug into behind the existing glass? If I can save my housings with the body color I'll do it, otherwise it's looking like $120 apiece from Rockauto, one of the ones on Ebay is out of stock.
