installed a new heater control valve in our 1998 explorer . the small grey vacuum line that runs off the front of it broke off what does it run , and where does it connect under the a/c compressor?

one end goes to the heater control valve and had an L shaped fitting on that end,and the othe end goes to the round black ball, inside the inner fender, mine also broke off.i used a straight piece of plastic pipe in place of the valve on mine.

Yes, the "L" shaped end goes to the heater control valve and the other end goes to the vacuum reservoir ball (directly or indirectly). Auto parts stores sell the hard plastic vacuum line in several diameters and I think Dorman sells the "L" shaped connector in the HELP section. If you simply break the hard plastic line, you can splice it back together with a small piece of rubber vacuum line, which also comes in several inside diameters.
