Name is David Gray from Dallas TX. Can someone please tell me where I should post a question about my ABS acting up on my 2006 Ford Explorer?

It keeps engaging for no reason, even when Im goin 70 mph on the toll road. Took it to the shop twice after it did this and they can't replicate the problem or find anything wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

David

Does it pull to the left or right when it engages?

EDIT- also is it a 2wd? 4x4? a4ld? and v8 or v6?

Heres what it says:

2 wheel drive
Engin Size: 4600
Cylenders: 8C
Transmission : Automatic/6100

Do you not know if its four wheel drive? or the engine type? either one and I could link you to exactly what part you need.

But anyway I would bet that its the wheel speed sensor(also called the front abs sensor) you will need the left hand side.

EDIT- ah one minute let me see if I can find the part for you

Okay i don't see the part on Autozone.com, so what you need to do is go to Autozone or OReillys and tell them you need the drivers side front wheel speed sensor, if that dosnt show up then tell them the (front drivers side)abs sensor, and remember that its a 2wd v8, they will need to know that. Alternatively skip the autozone trip and take it to a mechanic for replacement(they will also need the above info) if you don't think your up to it. When I had my abs sensor go out it cost my 60$ for the part. But that was an 01 explorer sport, so yours may be more.

Thank you so much. I dont know why the ford dealership told me the same thing twice without even checking the sensor. I guess if it doesnt show up in the error code or computer system, they dont even mess witht it.

yep, no check engine light no abs light no computer codes, I went through all the same problems. If you have to drive it for a few days before you can fix it, you can unplug one of the sensors and that will de-activate the abs system, though dont do this if its rainy, that could be bad...

welcome

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed, and moved your thread to the stock 2006-2010 section. It's possible that it's only some brake dust on the front sensors. The sensors have a built in magnet which attracts metallic particles.
