Hi 94 xlt owner from Connecticut.

1st question, How can I use a pic of my truck as my avatar? I only can get the pre-made one to work.

2nd, what are the biggest widest tires I can put on my stock explorer 4wd with the 15" rims? I just bought some new stock tires but I want something bigger and more aggresive.

31 x 10.5 is the biggest on 1995+ I would think it would be the same for 1991-1994

my friend has a 1st generation with 31s but he had to trim just a little at stock height

to get a pic you have to join the elite then you can upload an avatar

Thanks, what do you mean trim? is there a such thing as a 30" tire I could go with maybe instead. Yah I just saw that I have to join. I will join as soon as my paypal account clears.

yeah there are 30 inch tires, but you will gain less than an inch over the stock tires. and by trim, bigdave means that you may have to cut some of the fender to keep the tires from rubbing on the inside of the wheel wells or worse causing body damange when flexing the suspention

a 30 by 9.5 will work also it just wont fill in the wheel well as much as the 31 or be quite as wide. if you didnt want to trim to fit the 31s you could give it a small lift which is really cheap and probably under $200 + alignent, for shackles and spacers (not sure how much spacers cost) if you could do it yourself. you have quite a few options with your truck and i think a small lift would work great
