I'm new here to this site but not the world of Bronco II's and Explorers. I have been an avid wheeler since I was 16 and have found that there is nothing better! I currently own a 1989 Bronco II with six inches of lift 8.8 rear axle and a small but worthy dana 30 jeep front axle. It still has the stock engine, tranny and transfer case. It's also a chop top which looks cool but a few times I could have used the extra wieght in the back but oh well! My other rig is a 91 Explorer XLT! Just bought it and hope to get what I need out of it. Everything is stock so that gives me the perfect start. I plan not to wheel the Ex but to use it for camping, hunting, towing, and others things. Of course I have plans for a lift, wheels and tires. So with that I have a problem!

It has begun to make a ticking noise and from what I know it sounds like the lifters. Now is there a way to up the oil pressure? Or is there anything I can do to get rid of the ticking? Any help would be great!

welcome aboard

Welcome to Explorer Forum! Alot of the time the ticking will go away when it warms up. You could run a thicker grade oil. It may help some. BTY, lets get some wheeling pics of the BII posted up.

Welcome to the forum! If the above mentioned steps dont work then replacement lifters, rocker arms, and pushrods are in order.

Well hey everyone for all the imput! I hope its an easy fix (dont we all!) But what is the average gas mileage that you guys get with your ex's ( with or without a lift wheels tires). Plus here's some pics of the bII older ones but still cool! :D

Try Lucas oil Filters and add. The fluid stays on the gears, valves and the oil last 7000 miles sometimes more.
