I do not own an Explorer, but I am swapping a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0 in my Mustang. I came across this site while looking how to remove that PIA fan clutch. I will not be reusing the front half of the motor so I am almost at the point of taking a saw-saw to it. 
Anyhow I thought I would go ahead a register after looking over the site. I am a diehard Ford guy and in addition to the '88 Mustang that is receiving the Mountaineer motor I have a restored 1993 Mustang SSP and a 2010 Flex.
