Good day, all. I found a 98 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0 SOHC with 100,000 for 2200 bucks. Put in a fuel pump and fuel filter, tuned it up, with new tires. Was leaking anti-freeze, so changed the sensor and housing and works wonderful. I now have the P1762 "Overdrive Band Failed" issue, and am thinking about just getting the tranny rebuilt. Nice to meet you guys.

I own a 2000 Merc. Mountaineer which has nearly 300,000 miles and my transmission is also failing to perform. I have nothing happening in D and has no R. I can manually shift it into 1st and 2nd with no problem. When it comes to 3rd, I have to turn O/D off with the shift switch. Then I have to turn O/D back on to get it into 4th.
