Hi just wanted to say hi to all the members of the forum. My name is gregory. I live in queens, new york city . I have a 2003 ford explorer xlt 4x4. I got the truck used about 2 years ago trouble free until now. I think i mite have trans problems.thats one of the reasons i join, hoping to get good advice and technical suport from people that have experience on ford explorer. Prices for repairs in new york are sky high . That means do it yourself. So any help will be appreciated... Thanks

Best to buy yourself a manual, find one for a 5R55W/S/N transmission. Search ebay and the web. You can get a soft copy from ATSG: http://www.atsgmiami.com/

Thanks everybody!!! My first step get a manual . Second go to a trans shop and try to get the codes to see whats the problem. What would be better? Take it to a dealer or a shop like aamco transmissions. Thanks gregory

Some transmission shops might read the codes for free.
