Hello everyone!
I've been searching these forums for several weeks now looking at stuff for Ford Explorers and finally decided to join. I currently own a 03 Ford Ranger and am part of FordRangerForum.com as PotatoRanger if anyone frequents that site. I never was a truck/suv guy, but after owning the Ranger for almost a year now, I'm really surprised by how practical it is, easy to work on, and am now currently looking for something bigger and safer, especially to haul the (future) family around in. This is most important now since I currently have my first kid on the way, crazy!
Anyways, I found an 08 Ford Explorer 4.6L V8 Limited with 120k miles and they are looking for $9,999 with a 1 month/1,000 mile warranty. She's fully loaded as far as features go, the black leather interior is immaculate (like seriously looks brand new), the outside burgundy body is decent - a few deep scratches that were covered up with in a clear coat pen along with several other light(er) scratches that can be buffed/polished out and also some of the chrome grille looks wrinkled? The only major thing is that it was involved in a minor front accident. I can see the front bumper was repainted and the passenger fender trim doesn't align 100%, but she drive and rides super smooth. I've been thinking about this for a couple weeks now and wanted to see what you guys thought.
Is this a fair price for a high mileage 4th gen V8 with previous accident history? They originally listed it at $12,500, then dropped it down to $10,500 before I talked to them. Then I tried to haggle them down to $9,000 but they said they are holding firm at $9,999. Any reason to avoid this generation?
Thanks guys, I'm looking forward to any information you want to enlighten me with or just your opinions if you were in my shoes.
