- 1999 Explorer XLT
Hi, All!
I'm Bill, from Dunmore, PA. Just had a Land Rover Disco II wrecked, and my wife fell in love with an immaculate '99 Explorer, so, with discretion being the better part of valor, I decided that the truck (after a thorough going-over) would do the job, and it followed us home.
Typical, XLT, 4.0 OHC, 4-door.
I need to clean the OBD II contacts, since my AutoGauge computer doesn't want to read it; the shocks and tires need to be replaced with tourers instead of the munge-chuckers that are on it, but that can wait. I need to install a new stereo, since the factory radio 'has issues', mount up a VHF/UHF antenna and the two-way. Naturally, all of the fluids will be flushed and changed, but for now, that looks like it.
We need a reliable 'poor weather' car for trips from the Scranton, PA area down to the Children's Hospital in Hershey, PA for my seven-year-old; he received a kidney transplant in November of 2010, and we are still fighting rejection, so we can end up on the road very quickly...and it looks like the Exploder will fill the bill!
