- 1998 Ford Expedition
I've been lurking here for a few days since I got my '98 Sport. I'm not entirely sure how long I'll keep it, but I'm hoping things go well with it and I can hang onto it for a while.
Mine and my wife's other vehicles are an almost base model 1998 Expedition 4x4 (big and comfy!) and a 1991 F-150 XLT Lariat. One runs the 4.6 liter engine with a 4R70W transmission and the Borg Warner transfer case, the other runs a 5.0 mated to an AOD and is two wheel drive only. We much prefer to not have car payments!
The Explorer has the 4.0 SOHC engine and is also four wheel drive. It needs a lot of small stuff done, mainly interior work, brakes, and creature comforts. The engine purrs fine but I'm not sure if I will need to tear into it and replace intake gaskets just yet.
My past Ford vehicles include a '98 F-150 (still running, on its second owner now) '97 Ranger (repo'd in divorce), an '88 Thunderbird 5.0 (cruising that freeway in the sky), an '86 Econoline 150 (impounded) and a 1982 F-100 (sold off in 1994). I owned two non Ford vehicles in my time. Both were Mazdas and they were trash.
