yesterday and noticed that it was not charging my battery. I took the battery and had it tested and everything tested fine. I took the alternator our and took it ack to the auto parts store and they ended up switching it out for another one. I installed it and I am still having the same problem. Any ideas on what the problem could be? There are two male/female connectors that seem to be connected fine. There is another wire that screws onto the alternator and it is very tight. When I took the battery to have it tested, the guy tested the first alternator I had installed and it was only putting out 10 amps or voltz. He said it should be around 14. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've always used it as a rule of thumb to replace the alternator and battery at the same time. I've never had luck when I replace just one or the other. I also don't trust the battery testing equipment, etc. that autozone and others use. Best bet is to replace the battery as well. If the alternator is bad, it probably wore down the cells in teh battery so theyc an't be recharged.

When I replaced the alternater in my 92, I was still having the same problem. Then someone told me to replace thew alternater fuse ( in the fuse box under the hood). Sure enough it was blown. So give that a shot.

I just replaced the fuse and it corrected the problem. Thanks for our help.
