So several of you know that I am putting my lift in and also know that I have a track record for showing up to offroad in a not so trail ready truck. Well my lift went smooth, my front end is another story. Before Attica, I had an axle shaft replaced, them mechanic did not look at the seal. I knowing no better than to trust my mechanic took it and went wheelin. Well as is turns out my diffy fluid was replaced with dirt and mud, end result when we looked at everything cause it was making a noise is a trashed front end.
I went to the mechanic and he got in my face saying the job was to change the shaft, not pull the front end out, so he is not responsible and if I think I am then I am nuts cause I have 7 years on this front end. Well what do you think?

Also I want either a used 3.73 front end to stick in there,

or

my other idea was to get a Detroit true-trac and 4.10 gears but I dont want to spend this cash yet but it is tempting with it all out in the open. Dre I know you have a front end

Who's to say he didn't tear the seal when he replaced the axle shaft? It's really easy to tear them if you aren't very careful when removing and re-inserting the shaft. The seal should have been replaced when he did the job anyways.
The problem is I doubt you can actually prove he didn't ruin the seal. All he can say is it was fine when it left his shop and you must have tore it up while wheeling. Threaten to tell everybody you know that his shop ripped you off and did a bad job. That will hurt his business so maybe he'll cut you a deal on fixing it. If not, I say just go ahead and get the new axle you want (remember changing the gearing in the front also requires changing it in the rear) and have another shop do the work. Tell everybody you know how bad the other shop is so he'll regret messing with you.

well, I ve been there before......... mechanic broke a seal on a CV joint boot while replacing wheel bearing and my CV joint had to be replaced....... (under warranty?????????!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE!! the warranty has been rejected since they told me I broke that boot myself?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

anyway........ that center section in my garage is still available......... it's a 3.73
$150.00

I found a junk yard and found one in Eau Claire for $135 with 3.73. I will do this and regear later. It would be fun but spendy if I locker er up and regeared. So we will se what happens.

glad you found it cheaper (and closer). So does that mean that we'll see you in Wisconsin running Pipeline on th eweekend of July 20-22??????
lol

yeah right!! I forgot....... we're working on a new date..... sorry .;.;.;.;.; :::)))
