Help me diagnose bad noises in front end

I had the exact same situation on my '98 XLT.Drove me nuts! I had new upper and lower ball joint job,new shocks, and frnt. end allignment. I finally got six gorillas to rock the front end back and forth while I was underneath. Walla, stabilizer bar mount bushings. I could see and hear the worn out play. Previous to doing this, I had looked at them, and they seemed o.k. my suggestion is to replace them if they are the originals. Also, replace the bar-end links. My results-velvet.

Take a look at the EVAP canisster bracket. Mine was rotted out,and had broken at one of the 3 mount points. The spare tire was basically holding it up,but the bracket was bumping against the frame. This is an exspensive fix because the bracket costs alot.Mine was too gone to weld. Also note that the whole area back there is a perfect dirt and crap storage facility.Doing this repair led me to doing alot of other cleaning and rust proofing(if there really is such athing).I also went through the EVAP canisster assembly, and replaced the EVAP vent soinoid(which was turning into a rust ball, and proved to be partially clogged). This has greatly improved the venting while filling up the tank.

were you getting a clunking sound in the front end before you changed the swaybar and end links???:us::salute:
