heres whats wrong
- truck runs BETTER without MAS plugged in (with it plugged in it idles low, bounces idle, and the throttle response is crap)
- at low rpm's it huffs out puffs of kinda black smoke (oil) and smeels kinda sweet (like its burnin coolant)

I cannot complian because it starts and runs every time, i have not been able to check mileage because its a trial truck. It has 215,000 miles on it.

It sounds like the MAF sensor is either bad or dirty. You could try cleaning it, just pull it out and spray it down with MAF cleaner. Do not touch it! Just spray it until it looks clean then reinstall and disconnect the battery to reset the computer. A general rule of thumb though is when you unplug a sensor the truck should run worse. If it runs better, like in your case then that sensor is usually the problem. A bad MAF would also cause the black smoke because it is throwing off the air/fuel ratio and making the truck run rich.

.. i'd try replacing the MAF and clean/replace the IAC

never thought about that. I always thought it was oil because the motor has so many miles on it. thanks.
btw what does the iac sensor look like and do i clean it with mas cleaner too?
