I need some more of the forums expertise...

My wife has a 2000 Focus ZX3 I know what was i thinking well it was not up to me.

anyway as you might expect i have a problem teh ignition lock "cylinder" has blown up key will not work very difficult to install key and unable to turn. I have located a new cylinder form the "stealership" for $80 but need to remove the old one. How is this done? I called a locksmith they said they could rekey the new cylinder for like $30 but that removing the old one could take a few hours at $60 an hour so i thought i would do the labor myself however i have never pulled an ignition cylinder before. When i prodded the locksmith he hesitated to give me any advise for fear of what i have no idea probably just trade secret anyway has anyone tackled this problem before? Could use any advise trying to save a little so i can spend it on bigger stuff for my explorer

anyhow thanks any input

I replaced mine on an old Honda I used to have. It really wasn't that bad. I had to take the stearing wheel apart and a could screws. I can't remember extacly what I had to do but it wasn't to terribly bad. I ended up not keeping it on because I could not get my beeping noise to go off. It would stay on all of the time. I know this isn't a lot of help but it's the best I could do.

thanks for the effort

man that beeping noise must have driven you nuts

in case any of you are wondering i took a 1/2 drill bit and ran it through then fabed up a little toool to depress a pin and a wahla the cylinder came out all that is left is to rekey the new "perhaps" and stick it back in

i may leave the tumblers out because it is a computer key anyhow and this way it will not break again

anyhow thought you might like to know
