Hey fellas I really need your help here. I have a 93 Explorer 2wd that i built from the ground up (airbags). It has been running great, ive replaced the o2 sensors, coil pack, plugs wires, IAC, and TPS. My problem is this..... Sometimes she runs awesome, but about once or twice a day it idles like a dragster, and has no power, if i wait a few minutes and restart it, it runs fine. All of this started out of nowhere, and ive noticed a loss in power even when it runs decent.... PLESE HELP ANY IDEAS WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!!

Could be the MAF or IAC. Is it throwing a code?

ive tried 2 different MAF's and the IAC is about a week old, it throws a code when i floor it sometimes, but goes off before i can scan it

Sounds to me like a fuel injector might be crapping out. How many miles are on the motor? I just had my second injector give out on me, and it's the same symptoms both times. Just like you said, until it keeps getting worse until it happens all the time.

an injector huh? makes sense, is there any way i can check this? i reset the computer after pulling the codes, i got a lean bank 1-2 cade but this may be from me running it and unplugging the MAS. I am constantly running injector cleaner through the motor, could this ruin the injectors? thanks for your help, let me know how i should check it

You can put an ohm-meter on each injector, and measure the resistance. They should be between 14 and 19 ohms. If one is lower than 14, that would be the bad one. This wouldn't be the case, though, if the injector was clogged.

If you can verify each cylinder has spark, then I would put money on a bad injector.

Ok thanks ill try this. I have verified spark to eack cylinder (the old fashion way), so the injectors seem like a likely cause of the problem. Where else can I post on this forum? I posted under modified 91-94 but it got deleted. Im developing a custom muffler and have the prototype on my expo right now, works awesome, im trying to get it patented as we speak.
