I have a 2001 ford explorer sport with 130xxx miles on it. I bought it in the summer and my back end was to low for my taste so I did a cheap fix and got monroe air shocks that work great and lift the truck to the perfect height not to mention the fact that it helps out with the smoothness of the drive. But after i lifted it up a little and I noticed that the back end looked uneven so I checked on the leaf springs and I found out that they were broke at each end so I replaced them with new leaf springs that had an add a leaf in them.

So I figured that was the whole problem but it still sits uneven. When you stand behind it, it looks like the passenger side is higher then the drivers side. And the drivers side wheel sticks more into the wheel well then the passengers side. I don't have the time to take it to a mechanic because I'm holding up three jobs right now so I was hoping someone could help me out with what I can do to fix it. Please help me, I'm annoyed and stumped.

check your shocks. welcome to the forum and merry christmas

Thats what i thought it was at first too but the first set i had was under warranty so i made up some bullshit and told them they were defected and so they gave me another brand new set. Is it possible the part the shock bolts into on top might have got bent in or maybe the bottom bracket the shock bolts to got bent too? just a couple ideas

Is your gas tank full?

Gas tank is on the rivers side, it's known as the Explorer "gangsta lean" if you search on it you will learn a lot.

I also looked into that as well but even when my tank is dry it still sits like that. I figured the reason it sat to the drivers side when i first got it was because the leaf spring on the drivers side was pretty flattened out but even after i put the new ones on it still sagged on that side when the tank was dry

Try the torsion bars maybe?

loosen up the passenger a touch and tighten up the drivers a wee bit, id think that would even it out.

Well see the front is perfectly even but are you thinking that the front torsion bars might be affecting the back end?

I'll take a look at it but i'm going to try and put pictures up today of my truck so you can get a better look hopefully

ive been trying to fix the lean for a year now and ive given up. i think the fact that years of heavy gas tank and driver on that side have permanently tilted the truck that way i replaced both my rear leafs and cranked the tbars with no luck. i have a friend with an sas'd explorer and his still tilts to the left slightly.

Damn that sucks. Well sometimes i want to say that the back end is level but the wheels are off because if you measure from the inside wheel well to the inside of the tire there is an inch difference between the two. So i'm wondering if its fooling me because one tire is in the wheel well farther than the other making it look like its uneven. But then why are my wheels off? It just never ends
