My tranny is getting very hard to shift into every gear. At a stop today I couldn't get it into gear for about 20 seconds. Something is going **** up. It also seems like my clutch engagement point is moving towards the end of the clutch up stroke. From searching posts it seems like the culprit is probably the slave cylinder or some bearing catching on the shaft? Can you replace the slave cylinder with the tranny in the vehicle(3 inch body lift)? Or is it more likely its that bearing(if someone knows it's name chime in!)?

Wheeled the X hard today and it was rock solid. Couldn't be more happy with it's off road performance.

I'm not sure if I'm pulling it or going to the pull and junk and get one this week. Think I saw one with a new clutch there a few weeks ago. If it's there it's mine.

Got a tranny at the pull n save yesterday all by myself.. Don't try this by yourself people as it was harder than hell. Shifter is loosish. Input shaft has about a 1/16 of wobble. Small metal shavings on the drain plug. Nothing large or excessive. Output shaft is tight. I'm thinking disassemble. Inspect. Replace anything worn and maybe bearings. Do seals. Fix the loose shifter issue. Fix the loose input shaft. New slave cylinder. New clutch, new pilot or throwout?, not sure if they are the same or not yet and anything else you guys tell me to replace.

well youve already got a new tranny so atleast you can rebuild it and make it really nice. but probly all thats wrong with the one in your truck is the slave cylinder is leaking. and no you cannot do it with the tranny in. the bearing youre talking about is the throwout bearing. there is a write up in my signiture about replacing the slave and clutch....nothing unusual but it gives some visuals.

Thank you commmander(salute!) I didn't pay much for my junk yard tranny, $55. And it gave me a workout and a half.. My arms are sore today. Any good places to buy a slave? I might yank mine. Do the slave and slap it back in. Any advice on how I can tell if the slave is bad?

i would shell out the more money for a factory part on this one...since its a pretty common part to go out buying quality will buy you some time versus a cheap one. and a tell tale sign of a leaking slave cylinder would be what you described above...about the pedal.....not being able to shift at a stop...and fluid on the slave itselft showing that its leaking. its really a very simple thing to replace once you have the tranny out. and dont let all the horror stories about bleeding the system scare you....it just takes some simple mechanical ability and a helper. good luck!

I recommend dial-a-clutch. I used them, and all parts wereidentical to factory, and for a lot less $.
