Hi all,

I have a 94 Limited 4WD explorer and can seem to get any power in excess of 120 KM/HR.

There are no codes and no idea where to look at.

Engine has lots of power to get to 100 km, and good pickup but slow to hit 120 and then will not get any faster.

Need some advise on where to look at.

Already done a few spot replacements with no help:

New plugs & wires, air filter, MAF, EVP sensor, oil, flush tranny, flush rad.

Timing checked and was good, and compression great on all cylinders.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Wouldn't a O2 throw a code?

Mileage is good for the beast, 575 km highway about 300 km city.

I do have a vacumm leak on moist days when on brakes as vehicle accelates but haven't fixed that yet since summer and very humid.

Motor runs and sounds great, but did notice that when i press pedal to teh floor the part on throttle body is about 1/2 way from the stopper where the throttle cable attaches, if i use hand and continue to push cable from engine side engine revs higher.

Could is be my replacement cable and old cable have too much slake, have tried the throttel cable mods and still can't get cable all the way down on throttle body, or is thsi slack normal.

I see exactly what your problem is: you are driving Kilometers instead of Miles :D Drive that thing in the US and you won't have that problem.

:D

Seriously, there may be something to the throttle cable thing- I could be stretched, not opening your TB all the way.

How is your trans?

Hi,

I wish was in MPH as then would make sense as needle would be burried :p

Ruled out the throttle cable at mechanics this past week, as throttle plate will only twist an additional 1/8 inch when pulled slack and pushing cable right to stopper.

Trans is a new rebuilt unit from last November, but after thinking wasn't or isn;t there and issue in these trannys about passing gear or high gear that it doesn't engage? If so how can i test.

Do you have ATF in yout vacuum lines? If so its a bad tranny modulator.

How do i check that and which vac lines specifically to look for, as i pulled a few lines and all are dry inside.
