HELP!....Ripped front airdam off!!

Long story short.....pulling unto a gully where a stream was and I didn't see under the snow but there was a 90 degree cliff about 2ft after about a 5 foot angle of 45+ degree's....I hit my front air dam and ripped it clean off....however the back didn't hit at all ...also the mounts for the fog lights have been bent back/up...I can fix that no prob.....where can i get that part I ripped off?....is it expensive???....its the colored plastic that goes around the foglights and is on the bottem of the bumper......looks like it was held on with plastic clips

I have a 98 Eddie 5.0

P.S. I got out of the gully by making my own trail and climbed some serious ****....very impressed with the low end 5.0 power

Put a post in the wanted to buy section. Or check e bay. There is a guy who sells black aftermarket ones. I snapped mine off last winter. Hit a gaurdrail because other people can't drive I got out kicked it the rest of the way off and meant to replace it. I didn't because my aproach angle is a lot better with it off.

I think that I got the one for my Mountaineer from FPN around $45 or $50 back in February, but don't quote me not it.

Busted mine and want to said it was new $75, but I don't remember paying that much. Maybe $50. $75 might be Ford's price. I can check and see if I can get you one here.

Fog Lights

Easiler said than done.

I broke mine wheel'n in ice/water. First wheel'n trip 3 months after I bought it.

I tried to bed it back and it's close, but still not right. I'm looking for a new bracket. Also, my lens got water in it and my one of my bulbs blew (shatteded) after the fact.

Air Dam

I took my air dam off before I had a chance to rip it off!

Besides, I think the X looks better without it!:smoke:

I agree, leave it off. That way you won't need to worry about replacing it. I took mine off and still get good mileage on the highway and the fog ligts didn't do anything anyway.

I had my off for a while and I didn't like the look of the fog lights without it. What do you guys use for fog lights?? Maybe once I get a brushguard and a roof rack with lights I'll take it off. I agree it's plastic and not needed.

When I broke it, my buddy that I was wheel'n with, that couldn't believe I'd take a "nice" explorer off-road kept apologizing and saying sorry. My responce, ' it's plastic and not needed, not I have more front clearance!"

Fog Lights

What do you guys use for fog lights??

I just have the stock lights, which are kinda useless, but they do light up the road immediately in front of me. Plus they make the :redexp: more visible, night or day.

When I got the :redexp: in May, it already had 56K on the clock. The stock brackets are kinda rusty. I thought about painting them black, but I'm not **** about keeping the exterior spotless. Usually, it has dirt/mud from construction sites or running on unpaved roads in northern Pennsylvania. (I do keep the interior clean - I'm not a complete slob!). When the X is dirty, the fog lights & brackets are unobstrusive.:smoke:

Trashed the airdam and left it off, and finally got rid of the stock fogs that didn't work anyway. I've had these fogs for about 4 years (kinda hard to see, they're in the bumper):

update:

I have a friend over at the ford dealership and he had one in stock with his emp discount it was only 42 bux......only prob was the OEM fog brackets were bent back and one of the plastic fogs were cracked....I picked up a set of Pilot 1055 Driving Lights (a tad smaller than OEMS) and they were 55w/15 amp like stock so i spliced them in.....the best part the lights were only 20 bux and Light up the road like crazy!!! (I have them pointed towards the sides a bit)

but it gets better....Went wheelin last night again and had to pull a friend's big ass blazer with 35's out of a mud hole....Bent the back bumper up a bit.....i got under it and it looks like the 2 back brackets that hold it on are bent....time to call my friend monday

If your gonna be doin wheelin take the darn thing off, or get a 99+ bumper that got a little more clearance or lift the rig somehow

I had that problem a couple of winters ago. As I was driving on a wet icy street, turning right, the explorer went straight and not go in the intended direction. So, I went into a large flower pot. The ABS didn't activate as I was under 10 mph. That would be a good time for this truck to have the AdvanceTrac.

The front air dam fell off when I backed up as I got stuck with the flower pot. The left foglamp is trashed, but the right fog was fine.

I had the OEM foglamps and airdam from the local dealer and it cost me $150 in parts and I put them all my myself.

I had researched for a aftermarket fogs, but a pair of PIAA set back to like $200, so I decided to go with the OEM.

This spring, the right foglamp got water inside it, so I order another OEM fog lamp from a online parts Ford dealer for like $55 or something.
