the answers i was looking for.

I just picked up a 2000 x Sport, This is my first dealings with anything more than 3" off the ground (89&94 probes, 99 cougar, and 00 audi S4) i know nothing about 4x4ing or modding an suv. I searched the board with no avail to see if I could find something to do the following:

I want to keep the stock ride height in the winter, but in the spring/summer/fall i would like to have something that I can do (hopefully fairly easily and inexpensively) to drop the X a bit for better handling. I'm not looking to make cocroaches duck here, just take it down a bit...is there something as simple as "compression" blocks and how harsh will it make hte suspension? where can i find such beasts?

Thanks

Welcome to the Board! Hopefully you will get an answer to your question, I have no idea, but im sure some of the "sport truck" explorers might have an answer.

you can check www.explorerexpress.com Their sway bars are supposedly really good. Also to lower the front you can twist the torsion bars and in the rear i think you can use blocks.

twist the tortion bars? I am unfamiliar with this, I will have to search to see if there is detailed info on this. if you could give a brief explaination, i would appreciate it.

Well im not a lowered guy but i have been reading these posts for a while. Basically you will loosen 2 bolts. one is on the rear torsion bar mount on the drivers side ( under the drivers foot well area) and the same on the passenger side. The torsion bars are long tubes. There is a bolt on the rear mounts of them. I dont know if that made any sense but if you do a search you will find info. Many people lift their explorers using this so there are lots of threads about it. Your doing the same thing as the lift only instead of tightening the bolt you are loosening it.
