So I need help. I have set up several systems for friends. And i did mine last summer, and I want to make sure I am getting the most out of my 2 12" kicker comps. I got them as a present and had an old amp sitting around so I used it. It is a 1000 watt sony Xplod. (I know it's a low quality amp). But i just want to know the setting to use to get the most out of my system without any blown speakers or anything?? Any help or input would be nice!

Thanks!

Define setting... Do you mean the Gains?

Yes, gains and all the outputs. I feel like I may not be getting the most out of my expensive subs.

I appreciate any insight thoroughly!

Thanks,
Cam!

Well, I really cannot suggest what to set your gains to, that is more for what you have, and how much power the amp puts out before it distorts. Distorting is a really bad thing, it cannot only ruin your cheaper amp, but destroy your speakers. But I may be able to help you with the rest, what other controls does the amp have?

Here is a picture of what my amp is.

I really am unable to tell what your amp has, but, I can explain what the "Gain" does. What the Gain does is increase or decrease the amount of power your amp puts to your speakers. Now after reading that you may just want to go out and turn it up, DON'T! If you go to far, it will distort, and clip, and ruin your amp and speakers in the process. what you want to do is match the head unit you have(Best for sound quality, so you don't have too much bass), and or compromise and turn it up right BEFORE it distorts. You can look up online on how to figure out when it distorts. I adjust mine with an oscilloscope, which is sort of bulky, and complicated. But is more precise, than doing it by ear, or using the volt meter method. I hope this sort of helps you out. I was in you boat not too long ago.
