Hey, I have a chance to get a real clean black '96 sport w/ 55k mi. at wholesale price. ($6500)

2 wd, auto, full power, no mods

I'm wondering, are there any years from 95-00 that there were significant changes made to the sport? What year did the SOHC come out? Anything else to
think about w/ the later sports? Are the tranny's any better than the earlier model A4LD's?

Thanks

What do you guys think of the price?

the 1996 sport still has the OHV pushrod V-6. in 1997 the SOHC became available, but lots of people have problems with the 97 SOHC. if you want a SOHC, get a newer explorer.

i think that's a great price for a 96 sport. sure it's not the SOHC, but at least it's reliable.

So is my '97 SOHC. 79K and nothing major. Only the camshaft tensioners, lower intake manifold o-rings and throttle body have been replaced, all under warranty. The last problem I had was over 20K miles ago so I believe Ford got it taken care of. Definately nothing as bad as the problematic transmissions on the earlier years.
