hey everyone. I know that I no longer have an explorer but i keep coming back to you guys for help because the dodge boards suck and u guys are much cooler. I have a 2003 2500 Hemi with an infinity 7 speaker stereo.. I still have my system left over from my explorer and want to throw my amp and two subs into my dodge. My question is can I add a amp to a stock system and still have it sound decent. I really like my infinity system and would like to keep it. How would i go about tying my amp into the system and balancing things out. Your help is much appreciated.

bueller? ? bueler? anyone anyone?

you can IF, you have HI-Level inputs on your amp, *i think thats what they are called* what i believe this does, don't quote me on this anyone. but it takes input , but doesn't take power from 1 left and 1 right speaker and uses it as if it were an rca signal, and then it amplifies it then you just run speaker wire from the amp to your subs...

i think this should work, key word being should

Yep, like Elite said if your amp has 4 spring terminals (on 4 channel will be 8) then the stock speaker wires can be connected to it. If you only have RCA connectors (low level inputs) then you need to get a low level converter/rca adapter.

But with an infinity system you might have an outboard amp somewhere other than behind your dash. In that case, as is the pre-98 explorers, you need a amp bypass cable that should hook you up to the amp without needeing other stuff.

well i gotta take a look at my amp when i get home. how much u think a shop would charge to install it since now im living in the city and i probably wouldnt be able to do it on the side of the street

mmm. Got to leave you hanging on that one. I've always done my own work. Also make sure the shops will work with the equipment you have already and if they do what they will take responsibility for (warranty).

Actually, you can get a Line Out Converter (LOC) from just about anywhere. It converts a pre-amplified High Level signal back into a non-amplified Low Level RCA signal. I've never trusted the High Level inputs on any amp. By using a LOC, you allow the aftermarket amp to do just it's job (amplification), and not worry about the conversion.

Most LOC's get installed between the factory amp and speakers. If you don't have a factory amp, then you would install a LOC anywhere between the headunit and usually rear speakers
