I installed a Sony CD player in my truck and it died all of a sudden, with no explanation! I have the JBL premium sound package, and wired the new unit to the factory harness with Scoshe kits. I have checked all the connections, which seem good...the unit is getting some power, as is loads and ejects cds, but there is no display, nor sound produced! Let me know!

Sounds like your turn on lead is not getting any power. The unit will load and eject without the key on and then the whole thing will work when you turn the key on and power this wire.

It sounds like you know what you are talking about, but I am unsure what I am to do...is there something that I can do? Thanks for your help!!

What jgriffin means is that some head units will work without the key in the "accessory" position, other's will only have certain features work, like the eject button. What it means is that some head units will only work if they know that they key is in the ignition. The head unit knows this because after the key is in accessory, or the car is on, it receives a signal from the accessory wire telling it to come on.

Either the accessory lead that tells your radio to come on is dead (which would be really bad, since none of your radios will work anymore and you'll have to do some different wiring) or the head unit's reception of the signal is toast (which means the unit is bad and hopefully a new one will take care of the problem).

Of course, the best thing to do first would be to check all your fuses, including the ones under the hool for the accessories. If you have a Hayes manual, it will tell you which fuses are which.

Good luck,

Jon

I forget the color of the wires on the head unit, but I am thinking maybe red and orange, I know one is red. One of these wires is powered all the time no matter what the key position. With your problem it sounds like this wire has power, but the other wire which recieves power when you turn on the switch is not getting any power. Look in the manual and see which color wire is supposed to be switched. Then if you have a multimeter or a test light connect it to the wire, turn on your key, and see if you have power. If you do not, then JTang is probably right you need to check your fuses to see if one is blown. If you do have power then you either have something hooked up wrong or there is a problem with your head unit.
