Hi,
Well Ive now owned my 1997 LTD Explorer for a week now. Its got 75000km on the clock. Ive searched all over the forums and still need clarification on a few issues that I have. I am also in Australia, and this is not a very common car here, so Im a little concerned at taking it to unexperienced mechanics who may charge me for hours of work as they dont know the car.
1. Overdrive light - Mine will intermittantly come on, and then switch off when I press the button, but then come back on again a little while later. There are heaps of questions about a blinking light, which seems to be a Tranny problem, but mine is not a constant one.
2. Slipping into 4wd mode - Whenever I am trying to do 3 point turns or slow tight turns my Explorer will jerk and activate 4wd. I understand that this can happen as the sensors mistakenly think that the wheels are slipping, but should this happen all the time?? Are the sensors able to be serviced??
3. I havent driven much, but the other day I went on a slightly longer drive, about half an hr and for a little while, both the 4x4LOW and 4x4High lights lit up on dash when I was driving about 70km/h (45Miles/h)
I appreciate any help that I can get.
Thanks
william
