My name is Chris Kruger from Ames Iowa with a 2001 explorer sport trac. Looking for advise on what would happen if I ran my truck without the air filter for 5-10 minutes. The manual says "DO NOT RUN WITHOUT AIR FILTER!" What might I have screwed up? It runs a little rough and has 88k miles so I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow. I also just bought it and it is in very good shape so I hope this isn't a big issue.
It runs very rough at first when started up but comes out of it after 15 minutes or so. 18mpg now on the Interstate doing 70. I am guessing maybe plugs. I ran the obdII and it didn't show anything. I will search for old posts for info. It ran fine for a 300 mile trip recently except when it was just started up.
