Hi guys,

A new owner here, only had mine just over the week, but loving every minute of it - even coping with 18mpg  .

The explorer is loads better than my old '94 Mitsi Pajero which was just falling to pieces and breaking down all the time.

I've got myself a '99 in metalic red and grey with 61,500 on the clock so not to bad there, everything works (unlike the mitsi!!) although it's been a bit cold to check the AC out properly.

I didn't realise there was a UK forum for these things, everyone seems to think that they're really rare, but I guess there's enough to have a UK forum on the web :D :D :D

So the next question is what are they like offroad - the Pajero was good at that, but I'm not expecting the Explorer to be as good, and I doubt it'll get the same offroad abuse the Paj did but I'd still like to try.

Also does anyone know where to get a roof rack from - I've go the rails and bars that were fitted as standard, but would like a full length one if it is available?

Hopefully I'll be able to bring something to the forum in the future and not just ask questions but give some answers as well!!!

Cheers

Carl

Welcome Carl,

Had mine for over 4 years now and its still going strong. You'll find loads of info on this site. I have not come across a full roof rack but like most things with an X it may be a case of DIY. :D

Hi Carl
Welcome to the forum,i take my ex off road quite a bit, you will be suprised how good they are, better if you have a descent set of tyres on it.Full lengh roof rack HOW MUCH ROOM DO YOU WANT!:D :D :D :D :D :D

i would like to find somwhere to take mine off road but cant find a place available to just take your own vehicle off road

I'm not expecting the Explorer to be as good
Cheers

Carl

Hi Carl - Welcome aboard :salute:

Your in for a HUGE surprise regarding you comment above ;) :D

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies - I'm looking into getting a decent set of AT's on the X as soon as funds allow. I'll porbably be getting eith General Grabber AT2s or BFG ATs (if I can fing them under £130 fitted per tyre  )

Once I ve got rid of the useless road tyres that are on there at the moment I'll give it a bash offroad and see if it's as good as it should be!!

As far as the roof rack goes - you can never have too much space  especially when going camping with the Mrs ;) :D :D :D . Also I'll be able to fit a nice load of spots to the front of the rack as well - the X lights are not the best out there even with 80/100W bulbs in it.

Cheers

Carl

Guys check this fella out for tyres www.sowdentyres.co.uk the prices are great and the fella is very very nice too.

Also for going off road i have found that green laning is best for the x. Just do a search for your local green laning club.

Hi guys and gals - new to the forum as well and just wanted to say hello !

If you are going to do serious offroading, remember to take your towbar off, if you have one fitted. I did a nice bit of ploughing with mine still on!!!
