Hi there! New '92 from CO

Hi folks, I've been lurking for the past few days since I decided to pick up this old '92 explorer XLT. it's currently in rough shape but I'm hoping to bring it back and use it as a DD/trail rig.

Nothing too special about this one, other than the 3.73s and LSD, I'm planning on just doing some repairs and then doing a few little mods here and there as well. current plans are some daystar spacers in front and warrior shackles out back, with possibly a little lock right in front and some manual hubs.

trying to decide if I should go for 33s or 32s or just stick with 31s which seems a bit easier. look forward to doing this budget DD build with y'all!

Although I'm new to explorers, this is my one ton bronco that's my current DD. it's a lot of fun

Welcome, and thanks for supporting the site! That looks like a pretty clean First Gen, and a great starting point.

One thing I’d start with is the largest transmission cooler you can stick in front of the condenser.

Thank you! And yes, that is on the short list for sure. It has a coolant leak coming from somewhere up top on the engine as well. I'm guessing worst case scenario illhaI'llto strip it down to the chain and re-seal it. I have a monstrous trans cooler I was gonna use on an old crown Vic I had waiting back at my folks' place. It's going to get a remote trans filter and a trans temp gauge as well.

I am gonna try some coolant dye first and run it for a bit, but if that doesn't help i'll go pick up a pressure tester. thanks! this place seems to have a lot of information and a lot of helpful people, so i'm happy to contribute. that, and I HATE. advertisements.

It's funny because I was thinking about that. Currently the sale isn't complete (not in a hurry, he has to dig up the title and hopefully the missing alloy) but once it is I'm going to dive right into it.
