Posting this here since it's more of a general 91-94 question and not directly an A/C problem or issue. I just had the A/C recharged (Good ol' DuPont R-12 Freon at $65/can, geez). With the A/C on, the Temp gauge reads slightly higher than usual. I'm just curious to know if this is the case with other 91-94's, since I don't remember it ever reading higher.

Two things come to mind right away. Fan clutch and clogged radiator core and or a combination of both.

the 200+ degree condensor sits in front of the radiatior, thus air blowing across the radiator will be a little warmer than with the A/C off. unless its way up i wouldn't worry about it.

I agree, I wouldn't worry about it unless the temp gets higher. Also, if/when you need additional AC work, you might want to consider converting to 134. It's not that big of a job, and you can buy everything yourself since you don't need to be a licensed AC tech.

Thanks for pointing out the condenser, thats probably why. I considered converting since there wasn't much freon left in the system, but it sure looks like a lot more than a few hoses that would need to be replaced with barrier ones to do the conversion right. I'll eventually do it if the system stops working or once R-12 is too hard to get, but for now it was less work and less out of pocket just to keep it as is.

I have been having similar problems, it starts getting hot whenever I am idling with the air on. I recently flushed the cooling system and replaced the t-stat, which cured a misreading guage, but not the hot problem. I am guessing the fan clutch is going out, but I havent inspected it yet.
Oh and the entire ac system is new, every peice was factory replaced and was converted to 134a, so I dont think its the ac dragging it down.

A little rise is normal. Mine does it & always has & my other 94 I had also did it.
