2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer
Hi everyone!

Let me start of with the big "I'M NEW".

Now that the hard stuff is out of the way.

I've owned a 97 Intrepid most of my adult life, and I could do the usual stuff. Fluids, brakes, minor body work. It was rather simple too. I've been scared to venture to another vehicle due to eeriness of other engines and the new "plastic everywhere, but no screws" thing. Therefore I've never really thought about buying a Ford.. until now.

I just bought a 2002 Explorer Eddie Bauer 4X4.
I love it, and I want to learn everything about it.
It was a beautiful change from my Intrepid.. which pretty much has the same MPG ratio.. which is really really sad. I love the versatility and the options on the Bauer version, and I've only paid 5900 for it.

Only two issues as of day one. First, the washer fluid that's supposed to run into the rear sprayer.. it sprays somewhere in the frame instead.. above the passenger rear corner of the vehicle. And it drips onto the ground via the bumper after it does so. My guess is either a blocked sprayer, or a broken hose inside somewhere, or both; one due to the other.

The other is that the previous owner had his kids in the back (no 3rd row seating) and they spilled what seems like neapolitan ice cream on the carpeting for one of the floor covers.

Anyone know how to fix that hose (detailed or pics/vids would be awesome!), and how to remove 3 year old ice cream from a thin carpet? I'm afraid to Carpet Clean it, due to possible fragility. o.O

Any advice? And hello again!

I look forward to spending a lot of time here. :)

Leaky Hose Tracing

Sometimes, since liquids leaking somewhere follow a path to an appropriate low spot along their routing, it is exceedingly tedious to find the actual leak location. Attest: leaking residence ceilings, roofing leaks can follow underlayment many feet before appearing below. Trying to find the actual liquid entrance spot can be quite difficult.

Therefore, if the leak location is taking far too long to locate, it may be simpler to run a new hose, tube, or what-have-you from the pump in the engine compartment along the frame, all the way to the back of the vehicle.

welcome to the forum.

This is the best place on the internet to be for information concerning these vehicles.

Thanks for the words on the leak, ended up finding it! Fixed now. :)
