Hey guys,
Just replaced all four pads on the truck. The problem is I have excessive brake noise. Not loud squealing (tho there is some of this), but right before the truck comes to a complete stop, it makes a noise like the pads are "sticking" to the rotor. Kind of like when an old truck comes to a stop.

My question is this- is it because I did the brakes myself and didnt "machine" them? Should I have cleaned them somehow? Is there some coating on the pad that just needs to wear off? Help! Thanks

Did you lubricate the slide pins on the calipers? Are you getting the sound from all wheels? Also, what kind of pads did you use?

Give it some time for the pads to bed into the rotor a bit.
The noise should stop.

Yep. Mine did it too. I thought I'd screwed something up it was so loud. But after inspecting them (I replaced rotors and used same pads) I saw how the pads were contacting the rotors. The pads had not worn down enough to match the profile of the rotors.

How long should it take to bed into the rotor? If it takes too long, what should I do then?

I didnt lube the slide pin- should I do this? Also- it sounds like its only coming from the front, not the rears. I used Wearever Silvers. Basic pads from advance auto

Hey guys,
Update on this. The pads squeal even louder now and the noise hasnt really stopped as far as when I come to a complete stop and the brakes make a big "grunt" sound. Any ideas?

Your new pads might be toast but take the brakes apart and lube them. Spray the pads and rotor with brake cleaner. Sometimes they have a wax coating on them.
