Driving home last night I stopped at a stop sign an put it in reverse to adjust my rear brakes. When I stepped on the brakes I heard a loud noise that continued for a second until I got stopped. I got out to check the front brakes and saw my drivers side tire pushed forward to the bumper. I looked underneath and saw the noise had been my radius arm dragging on the pavement. I appeared that the weld broke where the two pieces of tubing come together and are welded onto the threaded rod. Some creative work with a chain and come along and we were able to get the arm of the ground and hold the tire in the fender to get it on the tow truck. I'll call James Duff today to get a replacement and have it put on. The Explorer is going into offroad retirement though, last night was a real wake up call....had that had happened at 70 MPH I could be dead right now. Even though I feel the part was defective I can't take the chance that my offroading (as mild as it may be) could jeopardize my life. So until I graduate college and can afford another vehicle the Explorer is going to have to be strickly a daily driver. Just a heads-up to everyone that uses their offroader as a daily (and highway) driver. Everyone have a great day.

That sucks

Good to hear you are alright:D That would have been bad if that would have happened on the highway:(

Check your tranny crossmember too. I cracked three of them on my '94 Splash before they redesigned it properly.
