Hood Stuck

Any one had this problem. I have had a buddy pull the latch while I try to pull on the hood. I have also grab the wire from inside the cabin and pulled with vice grips and still no luck. Any Ideas.

I am having a problem with my hood latch also. It seems like the cable might be stretched out as I cannot use the handle under the dash to unlock the hood. the hood actually doesn't completly lock into place. It stays downin the first lock so I can pop it up with my hand and ge to the handle under the hood to get it open but won't completly lock when slammed down. Any idea what this could be?

I've heard you can pop it with a screwdriver or something. Search the site. I was able to grab the cable behind the latch (in the truck) and basically roll my fist down and toward the seat, and it would pop. I think replaced the cable. You might try getting some lubbricant on the latch first - maybe something is stuck. If you tried the vise-grips already then it might be too far gone for that, so you'd have to work the latch from the outside.

My 97 sport hood latch was super hard to release. I actually thought I was going to break the plastic release handle. Got it open and sprayed all the of the locking mechanism parts with WD40. Works just fine now.

reminds me of a funny story.... one night after some mild drinking I went to show someone my supercharger and in my drunkeness pulled the parking break instead thinking it was the hood release. I thought the hood release broke.

if you look inside the grill where the hood latch is .
on the upper right hand side of the hood latch there is a slot that you can put a flat head screwdriver and push level ( with screwdriver push left)
to pop hood open

Hood stuck & cable works???

Problems! My hood is stuck on my 97 and the cable works. I have tried the slot and can see the latch move, but hood is still stuck. I can also see the cable moving under the hood when pulled. I have someone hold the release from inside and I grab and shake the hood like a mad man until it opens. The mechanic I use tried to look at it and he figured that the entire latch may need replacing but was not 100% sure. The latch has been sprayed like crazy. Once the first release lets go, the hood opens & closes as normal.

Can anyone help me with this problem before I take to a body shop to fix???
