Hi ya'll. Louisiana guy here. My first Post since joining and introducing myself. I have a 2003 Explorer 4 door, 4.0, 135,000 miles, 2 WD, auto. trans. that goes into alarm mode at random and usually very inconvenient times. Does anyone know how to fix this? I appreciate any advice.

you have a door, hood or hatch sensor that is defective. I had this happen on mine, same symtoms. it was a pain to find. finally we hooked it up on a good scan tool and read the bcm. we had to keep it hooked up and watch it, as it read the sensors. Finally it showed one door sensor that opened and closed. we did not open the door, the sensor just told the computer that it did. I replaced that sensor 2 years ago, and it has been fine since.
this may not be your trouble, but I thought I would share my experience.
good luck

Thank you Troyota!
That's an amazing answer. The rubber cushion on the top drivers side glass hatch disappeared sometime ago. So, I guess the extra movement is causing that switch to function. Who knew but you! Thanks again.

It might also be your rear liftgate switch. If you replace your drivers side door switch and it still doesn't work, check if the ground wire is loose or broken. If not then check your rear liftgate glass door switch. That was the problem with my 03 Ford Explorer XLT. The light would also ding on when I hit bumps.
