Hey guys, can anyone tell me how can I turn the interior lights off including the lights under the side mirrors when I need to leave the doors open for a while. The interior lights including the lights on the outside mirrors are just a bit too much, last time I when camping and had to keep opening the doors the battery died. I'm surprised that Ford did not include a master switch to shut off the interior lights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you

turn your dimmer switch all the way down until it clicks. i do not know if this works on 98s, but it works on my 99.

I can say for sure that it does work on a '98 XLT. Just did it while I was camping this weekend, in fact. :D

alternatively, you can pull the fuse.

on a 93 you can lock one of the latches on the rear hatch with a finger and the light goes out, and just turn the handle and close it.

good luck

Just make sure YOU TURN THE HANDLE FIRST!

I am sure all who have done that trick have done the slam dunk sound on the rear by forgetting that just once... :nono:

Thank You

ya, but i was able to open it w/o too much problem by hand.

I'm pretty sure you can buy or make a tap for that fuse too. the tap goes into the fuse slot and has a couple wires comming out of it (inline fuse is in there too). It allows you to very simply wire in a switch so you can turn it on and off. I have no idea if this makes sense haha...crank came up with this idea a few months ago in the chat so maybe he can explain the idea better haha :)

Good Luck
