lol, not really, and not that I would.

I was just wondering what kinda dBs people around here are putting up, I figured any hardcore competitor would read this, lol.

I'm just curious, I'd like to know how many subs, and how much wattage, and what Mic you were metered on, brands aren't neccessary, but if you feel inclined to brag, then go ahead.

ME:

148.9 dB Linear X
1 12" Sub (Adire Audio Brahma)
1500 watts rmsfrom the Adire/Ampman audio Revolution 1500.1D

I have a **** load of sound dampening, prolly gives me a nice 2dB increase to help me hit the score posted above.

with a 15" RF punch hx2 i hit 136.6, which isn't good but i got 3rd

powered (or over powered) by MA audio synergy class X 1500 watt, 750 @ 2 ohms -- which was what the sub was gettin.

WOW allmost 149 DB with a single 12" ?
Thats amazing to me!

you wanna see subs mounted to the roof...

Dead Link Removed

hahaha you like it

Think of how hard it would be to suspend 15lbs subs on the roof! Wow, hard bass note and you have a sub missle towards your head.

That is a demo truck, which means that those subs that are mounted on the roof are more than likely to showcase their talents, not to showcase ideal sub mounting locations. All it would do is rattle the living hell out of your headliner, and your roof would vibrate like crazy because it's not solid. In other words, not a good idea.

lol, well, not as many replies here as I expected....

also, to comment on the roof... the silliest thing I ever seen, and I made this thread to give you all a laugh in response to the guy who said "can't wait till someone makes a post on how to mount the subs on the roof"

lol, I only have 1 12" sub, imagine if I mounted just my ONE, it weighs 45lbs! but it would loose its loudness because it has to be in my enclosure to be as loud as it is, it doesn't sound good for ANYthing except a test tone in that box that I made that had it hit 148.9, other than that I use a box that only hit 144dB but is playable for songs, etc.. and sounds great.

and it still scares people.

I peak out at 149.6 db. That was the last time I entered a compition. It gets kinda boring getting disqualified every time you enter. The reason for that is I kept blowing the seals around the quarter panel windows and they'd flag me and disqualify me.

I run 2 15" RF HX2s with a RF bd1000 to each sub and audiobahn 1 farad caps to each amp. Box was designed by RF and built by me.

I'm outta that scene now but still have all that **** sittin back there. Just to piss off the kids in there dads truck blaring the stereo.

plexi windows. they may not look pretty, but they are bolted down all the way around.

Yeah I was going to but I got outta that scene. Sponsors wanted too much from me.

Got any pics of your system to share Derrick?

I had to revive this thread. I am realy interested in mounting the subs to the cieling but the few post I read in my search says its not a good idea. Is there a way I could do it so I have more room in my truck for my spare and still have it sound good. The post from 93redbeast shows a setup that I like but would rather have the subs face forwards and towards the back hatch, or maybe angled at a corner. what do ya'll think.

lol at old post......:D

anyways if youre going to do a roof mount, BE PREPARED for a LOT of work....

Just off the top of my head....
Youll prolly want to make the roof stronger, strengthen it with metal or mdf, then you'll have to make a light mdf frame and use fiberglass to make the enclosure... The key to that would be low weight, and strong support...
But I would not reccommend it.... one more thing to come flying through the cabin and kill you in a vehicle accident....

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like a good idea, but I know its not. who knows I might try it one day. whats MDF?
