How do you install an ignition lock cylinder on a 2000 Explorer?

how do you install a ignition lock tumbler with anti theft on a 2000 explorer

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the stock 95-01 section. Always disconnect the battery, and wait at least 10 minutes before working on a steering column with an air bag.
 






Once you remove the surround trim from the steering column (3 screws from the bottom) there should be a button under the cylinder to depress when turning the cylinder, which will allow it to turn and pop out.
 






Do believe you have to turn the key to the ON position first (and of course make sure your battery is already disconnected as BrooklyBay said)
 






that answers part of my question how to install a ignition lock tumbler but i just dont know how to reprogram the new keys for my anti theft
 






How many keys do you have for it? Pop a search, there are some threads already written.
 






Even if he has two good keys, he won't be able to use them to initiate the programming since they won't work in the new ignition. Probably have to get a locksmith or take to the dealer.
